This past Friday a bunch of my friends and I went out for ramen at Otaku Ramen. They are located in The Gulch close to Urban Outfitters! There's nothing like a nice, hot bowl of ramen and a great group of friends to warm you up on a cold night.

I ordered the veggie miso and it was super delicious! I've never heard of a noodle dish with sweet potato in it, but I love sweet potato anything anyway so I still enjoyed it either way. Also thanks Jeric for being the plug for that good lighting!
The bathroom had a television playing live traffic in Japan..so while you're doing your business, you can watch people cross the street and drive around!

I loved the artwork displayed throughout the restaurant because a lot of it was Studio Ghibli illustrations! If you're not familiar with Studio Ghibli, GET FAMILIAR! Because their films are classics. I highly recommend Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, and if you are tough enough, watch Grave of the Fireflies that movie will make you burst into tears.
It was so much fun finally going out and seeing old friends! And shoutout to John and Joey, the two were visiting for Thanksgiving from the Navy. I'm sure we'll have plenty of hangs again when they come back to visit next month! Also I am currently working on a short vlog so be on the lookout for that, it should be up sometime later this week!

I didn't have class all this week due to Thanksgiving, but I felt I was busier than ever! On top of all the things I had to do, I got sick and my allergies have been flaring up. Do you guys know how awkward it is to just casually be talking to someone/a customer and your eye starts watering up randomly? Seriously, I always get allergies during this time of year and it's just loads of fun. My eyes get so irritated and puffy.

These past two days have been quite lively. Wednesday, Coolhands Ariel and Eshie hosted a kick back and it's no fun being sick while everyone else is having fun haha. For Thanksgiving, I had to work, but made it home in time to have dinner/lunch with my family. Pumpkin pie is my all time fave part of Thanksgiving. Also my friend John, who is in the Navy, came home and surprised everyone! It's always nice to see old friends :)
To end this post I just wanted to announce that I am currently working on a short vlog (I know I am seriously lacking on the vlogs) and it should be up some time in the next few days!  Stay tuned and happy Saturday!

This week was a challenging one for me. I had a Lab Final which was a cooking competition and it's been stressing me out for the past month and a half. I'm just glad to finally get it over with and start focusing on the rest of my school work. I've been spending hours in the library and on campus just studying and working on assignments. Today (Saturday) is also mine and Anthony's 2 year and 5 month anniversary! It's so crazy that we're already almost done with the month of November. Like guys...Thanksgiving is next week! I also thought it was funny how when Hannah bought me this iced matcha latte the barista asked if Kat was spelled with a K or a C, and when Hannah told her it was with a K, the barista said, "Oh..well too late," because she already spelled it with a C lol. ..like why did you even ask then?!

I know this is incredibly late but I was wanting to do my October Favorites in a video format but sadly that did not work out according to plan. But I didn't want to not do a monthly favorites so here it is! I don't have a lot of products to mention and a lot of the things I will be mentioning are either anime shows or movies (no surprise there).
Starting things off with the first item that was actually gifted to me from my friend Ariele! She got me this perfect pug cup with the letter J on it which stands for "Just Right." I'm not sure where she got this cup, I want to say it was either Wal Mart or Walgreens. This cup is perfect because it has my favorite dog on it and it's my favorite color! The only thing I find troublesome about the cup is that the inside is black so sometimes when I use this at night I shine a light in the cup just to make sure bugs didn't fall into my drink lol.
The second favorite is the Nature's Way Alive Women's Multivitamin gummies. Being constantly stressed from school, work, and whatever life decides to throw at me, it's easy to forget to take care of myself. I know sometimes there are days where I barely eat (Anthony always gets mad at me for this) but hey, sometimes you're just too caught up in other stuff you forget about food! (Although that's kind of hard seeing as I am a Nutrition Major) So to help make sure I'm still getting the nutrients my body needs I decided to invest in Multivitamins. I heard about this specific one through some random person's Instagram account on the explore page and randomly decided to try them. I'm super glad I decided to get these because they taste and smell soooooo good! Also they contain no gelatin, dairy, eggs, or other animal byproducts. Also a fun fact, did you know gelatin is made from the bone marrow and connective tissues of animals?
A beauty product that I absolutely loved for the month of October is Lush's Cup O Coffee face mask. I have been wanting to try this for quite some time and due to hellish breakouts as of late I decided to finally treat myself (and my skin). This smells soooo good and makes my skin super soft after each use. I usually use this in the morning as a little wake-me-up and pick me up for my skin. I don't use this every single day since it is also an exfoliant and I don't want to overwork my skin, leading to more breakouts. I also use this in the shower for a total body scrub as well! I will definitely be repurchasing this soon because I'm almost out and I've only had this for a little over two months!
If you love the smell of coffee and feel your skin needs a little TLC I would highly recommend looking into this mask. I have super dry skin and this doesn't strip my skin of any moisture at all! If anything is always leaves my skin feeling hydrated and rejuvenated!
Now to everyone's favorite part: A N I M E.
I have three animes that I wanted to recommend to you guys and they all vary in genre. The first one is called Keijo!!! and it's more of those "sporty" animes. It's very different from a lot of the sport animes already out there because the sport they play (called Keijo) allows only female players and the goal of the game is to knock your opponent off the "Land" (the playing field) and into the water, but the catch is the players can only use their breasts or butts to do so. It's a total fan service type anime but I did not think I would be so into the show like I am now. The second anime is called Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon? and yes, I know this anime is what everyone was watching last summer or whatever, but I already admitted to myself that I'm an idiot for not having started the series sooner. I am all heart-eyes for Bell-Kun and totally ship him and Hestia together. The anime focuses on Bell-Kun, an adventurer in his world, and among all the other adventurers out there his goal isn't to gain all the wealth or riches but the girls. He serves his Goddess, Hestia, and the two work together to strengthen one another both physically, mentally, and emotionally. The last anime, Orange,  is a tear-jerker. Although it is quite frustrating as the show progresses, but not as frustrating as Kimi Ni Todoke. The general story of the anime is focused on this girl named Naho that receives a letter from her future self. In this letter her future self is advising her to help save her new from Kakeru from dying. As Naho is trying to change the future you see how that effects her, Kakeru, and her friends. Although the ending is a bit bittersweet and I was kind of hoping for something different, I still enjoyed the anime over all.

TRAIN TO BUSAN // HOPE

I watched two movies last month that left a fairly good impression on me. They're both Korean films, but they are both subtitled so you don't have to worry about not being able to understand the films. The first film is called Train To Busan and it's basically about the zombie apocalypse hitting South Korea. My friend Deanna recommended this to me and I thought I'd give it a watch. There were some scenes throughout the film that I couldn't help but LOL at or kind of go WTF? and you just have to watch the film itself to see what I mean. I still very much enjoyed this film from beginning to end because once the action starts it just does not stop and you're literally on the edge of your seat to see what happens next. I admit, I was kind of hoping for a different ending, but the ending wasn't so bad that it ruined the whole film. I randomly stumbled upon the second film, Hope, on Netflix. This movie is about a pretty controversial topic so those who are a bit sensitive may not enjoy this film all too much. To summarize, the film is about an 8 year old girl and her family who are trying to cope with life after the girl is sexually assaulted. If you are planning on watching this movie, make sure you have some tissue boxes on hand because this movie is rather emotional.

To end things I have two song recommendations for you guys! If you've been following me on Snapchat then you'd know I'm very much into oldies / 80s music. Hall and Oates is my current favorite as of late so there's not surprise that I'm going to be mentioning one of their songs. "One On One" by Hall and Oates has been on constant repeat for the month of October and every time it came on my Pandora it just lifted my mood instantly. I saw that they were going to be in Nashville sometime in late November, but then I was depressed to hear it was cancelled. I regret not going to the Pilgrimage Festival this year because they were performing!!! The second song "Keep Forgettin" by Michael McDonald was also on repeat and was stuck in my head for almost two weeks straight. It's super catchy and you can't help but sing along to it.

And that's it for this month's (late) favorites. I hope you guys enjoyed reading it! See you guys in my November Favorites!

Sometimes when you're writing a blog post, it's hard to find the right words to say. That's why I've come up with the idea to start doing this new segment on my blog that I'm going to call "My Week Through Photos." Basically what it is, is just one daily photo of the week that describes how my week went, or just some cool things I saw and want to share! This is also a great way to challenge my n00b photography and editing skills.

This week was interesting. I'm not sure if you can tell that from the photos haha. Sunday was a very busy day at work. Monday I had the day off and decided to try and make stuffed acorn squash! I burnt the heck out of the squash seeds to where they were unrecognizable. Then Tuesday I got food poisoning, which led to Wednesday where I had to deal with a fever and feeling nauseated all day. Thursday I started to feel somewhat better, but I just stayed home and slept all day. Friday I felt 100% back to my normal self and even got out the house! I got super lucky and found these boots I've been wanting for the longest and got the very last pair! (And I was even luckier because they were exactly my size!) Saturday I felt rather lazy and journaled a lot of my internal struggles and thoughts lol.
A lot happened this week and I hope you guys enjoyed your week more than I did, because seriously food poisoning is nooooo joke and I hope to never experience it again lol.

When you're in need of makeup but on a really tight budget, drugstore makeup is the way to go! Some of my favorite brands are Wet N Wild, Yes To, and E.L.F. These brands are not only affordable but also cruelty free! What I love most about drugstore products it that you get a lot for a fraction of the cost you would spend at Sephora or Ulta (even though Ulta does also carry drugstore brands). Also because you're not spending a huge amount of money, if you don't like a product, it's not such a huge loss or dent on your wallet.
Starting things off with what I got from E.L.F. I am very disappointed in myself because I haven't tried out more of their products. They have tons of great products for super cheap! I got their "Poreless" face primer ($6) and their Ultimate Blending Brush ($6). The primer has a silicone-moisturizer feeling to it. I still think the Too Faced Hangover Primer is my number one favorite, but this is a good, cheaper alternative when you're tight on money. I do find you have to take some time to really let it work into your skin and set. If you try to put foundation on right after you'll notice it kind of makes your foundation slip around so I highly recommend you give this primer a second to set before applying any other face makeup. Like I said the primer does have a silicone feel to it, so if you've used silicone primers before you'd know it kind of leaves a greasy film-feeling on your skin. Overall it's not the worst primer out there, especially for the price you're paying. The second item from E.L.F is a face brush. I was wanting a new face brush because I felt it was time to take a break from using my Wet N Wild Flat Top brush, because I use that brush like every single day. The brush I got is their Ultimate Blending brush and I was quite amazed at how effortlessly it blended out my foundation. It felt kind of awkward for me to use at first since I was so used to my flat-top brush, but overall I really like it!
From Wet N Wild I got two makeup products. The first prodcut is their BB Cream ($6) and the second is their Color Icon Blush in Rose Champagne ($3). I was wanting a BB cream because when I have school or work I don't really like wearing a heavy foundation. The Wet N Wild BB Cream claims to be a "Swiss army knife of beauty" by hydrating, concealing, brightening, evening skin tone, primes, minimizing oil, enhancing, and protecting your skin. It is a very sheer BB cream, and I would say it's more like a tinted moisturizer. When I first applied this to my face it was hard to tell where I had applied the product and where I hadn't. This is still the first product I grab for when I'm in a hurry or looking for something with light coverage. It feels super lightweight on my skin and does provide a very light coverage without looking super cakey. The blush is a very pretty rose-toned color. It's very buildable and with a very light hand, can even be used as a highlight because of the shimmer in it.
For affordable skincare I always gravitate toward the Yes, To line. Ulta was having a BOGO half off sale on the Yes To brand so I couldn't say no (no pun intended) The two items I purchased were their Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Cleanser ($10) and their Yes To Coconuts Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser. ($10) I have grown to love these two to death! I use the Detoxifying Cleanser at night when I take a shower and it always leave my skin feeling super supple and soft. It is a bit drying if I use it every day, consecutively, but every other day usually tends to do the trick. Both tomato and charcoal are believed to be good for acne prone skin so having the two in one product is basically genius. I've been having a lot of trouble with my skin and breakouts lately and this has calmed down my skin for sure. I still get a break out here or there, but I'm sure it's mainly due to stress. The Melting Cleanser is also my new favorite way of taking off my makeup! What's unique about this cleanser is that you can use it two different ways. The first way is mixing the product with water in the palm of your hands then applying it to your skin just like a regular cleanser. The second way, which is the way I prefer, is using the product straight out of the tube and working it into my skin. I found that using it the first way doesn't effectively take off all my makeup in one go, but using the second method I can get even the toughest makeup (like gel eyeliner) off with just a couple rubs! The product is basically like a solidified oil cleanser (basically like other cleansing balms), which we all know is what I always use to take off my makeup. However I find this is a bit more convenient to have in my bathroom because sometimes with cleansing oils it can be messy, but because this product is in a more solid state there's less mess in your bathroom and on your face lol. (I know, I probably could've worded that better haha) The Melting Cleanser also has a hint of a coconut smell which I absolutely love! I can't say if I can smell tomatoes or charcoal in the Detoxifying Cleanser though. Either way I am completely in love with these two products and super happy I decided to buy them.
The last item I am going to talk about is from ecoTools and it is their Makeup Brush Shampoo.($8) I am the worst when it comes to cleaning my brushes and because of that my skin has been paying the price. So while I was at Ulta I decided it was time to purchase a new makeup brush cleanser. This one caught my eye because I never heard of it. I've used (and repurchased) the Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser and the It Cosmetics Brush Bath in the past but still felt like I have yet to find the "Holy Grail" brush cleanser. I still love the Beauty Blender Solid, but I still wanted to see what other options I had out there, so as a result I ended up buying this! It smells just like hair shampoo and does a fairly decent job at cleaning my brushes. It does take a couple dollops of the product to my brush completely clean (but that's speaking for my brushes that have two weeks worth of makeup in them.) Overall it gets the job done but you really have to work the product into the bristles of your brushes for the product to penetrate any built up makeup and residue. I find the best way to use this is soaking your brushes in luke warm water, then apply the product directly in the middle of your brush bristles and then gently massage out your brushes. If you're looking for something to clean your brushes super quick (say under 10 minutes) this is not the product for you.

And that concludes this short drugstore haul! I haven't bought makeup in such a long time and it felt kind of nice buying something for myself again. You can find all these products at your local Ulta or Walgreens, or you can click the links I provided throughout the post! I hope you guys enjoyed!
