My Favorite Halloween Movies

October 24, 2016

I am absolutely in love with this time of the year! Holiday season, if you're not working retail, is the most enjoyable time of the year for me. Although cramming for midterms and finals doesn't sound all that pleasing, what I love most about this time of the year are the holiday movie specials! So for today's post I'd thought I'd share some of my all time favorite Halloween movies!
(Also I know The Walking Dead came back on last night and I have YET to watch it, so please, no spoilers please!)

If you were a 90s kid like me, you'd know for a fact that Disney Channel was at it's PRIME during this time. They always showed the best movies during Halloween and of course, an all time favorite by..probably everyone, has to be "Hocus Pocus" and "Halloween Town." To this day I still enjoy watching these movies around Halloween time and it just never gets old! They really get you in that Halloween and Spooky spirit. Not to mention these are super kid friendly, so if you have a younger sibling, these would be perfect to watch together.

I admit this movie might be a bit scary for some kids, I mean...I was probably 18 or something when I first watched it and it had me on edge. The story line is super creative and you find yourself being sucked into the movie because you don't know what's going to happen next. Seriously if you have not watched this, you've got to. 10/10 would recommend.

This is a bit more on the PG-13 side. It gets rather dark and creepy. My all time favorite scene is the dinner table scene because it's the perfect amount of creepy. Also if you're into superstitions or Brother's Grimms type of stuff, this movie will definitely be up your ally because it touches on a lot of urban myths and fantasy/fairy tales.

And it wouldn't be Halloween without Vampires or Werewolves and these two are always my go-to for just that! Sorry...never really liked the whole "Twilight" craze.
If you're wondering where you can get these movies on DVDs, most of them are on Amazon. When I looked them up all of them were priced at no more than $10 and as cheap as $3! I'm sure they have them on Blu-Ray as well, but for a bit of a higher price, but nothing too expensive. You can also possibly try looking at stores that sell used books and DVD's! Nashville has this great place called McKay's  and they have a wide selection of products. And even though a lot of the stuff they have is used, 90% of their stuff looks almost brand new! (I believe they also have a Knoxville and Chattanooga location as well!)
If you're not too into horror and gore try checking out some of these films! I was wanting to do a separate posts of horror/thriller/gore film favorites, but then I realized that I'm not a huge fan or horror films like I used to be. But if I can think up a decent list of films, I'll be sure to post it!
