Greetings,Friday.

August 19, 2016

Happy Friday everyone! Just wanted to make a quick post and kind of update you guys with what I've been up to. Today I actually have an orthodontist appointment (sigh). I have a little over a year left until I get my braces off and best believe I'm counting down the days! Also aside from working I've been getting ready to go back to school! I'm super excited to go back after having taking a year off (although it feels like a lot longer). I was thinking about doing some back-to-school related posts too! And although the beginning of the semester is just around the corner I'll be sure to still show my blog some loving!
I recently checked out two books from the public library. One being Gillian Flynn's "Gone Girl" and the other by the infamous Haruki Marukami's "Strange Library." Both books, I guess would classify under the fictional/mystery genre, which we all know tend to be my favorite.
I finished Haruki Murakami's "Strange Library" in a day. It's a very short read and if you're familiar with Murakami's writing style it's very different and unique. After reading this short story, it sounded something that would be the basis of an anime plot line (lol). To summarize the story, a young boy who frequents the library ends up being held prisoner at his local library. The book primarily focuses on his attempt to escape while also meeting some peculiar characters along the way.
The one thing that drew me to this book is the cover. Also the illustrations throughout the book are rather (for a lack of a better word) trippy.
Now moving on to "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn, which I keep wanting to say Gilligan than Gillian. A lot of people might be familiar with this title because there's also a movie that came out based off this book. I read the book before watching the movie, and I don't want to be one of those people that always say the books are always better than the movies, but I most definitely liked the book a lot better. If you're not familiar with the story it is about a married couple, Nick and Amy, and how on the day of Nick and Amy's 5th year anniversary, Amy suddenly goes missing. While looking for Amy evidence starts to propose that Nick had something to do with Amy's disappearance and possibly, murder.  This book was the biggest page turner and most would agree, had one hell of a plot twist. I wasn't a fan of the ending because it didn't give me the sense of closure that I needed. Overall I enjoyed the story and had a lot of fun reading the book!
I'm also currently working on a long overdue vlog so be on the lookout for that! Also my boyfriend, Anthony, is going to be in town soon so I have that to look forward to as well. I currently started watching this anime called "Sweetness and Lightening" and it is the cutest thing ever! I recommend it to food lovers and lovers of all things kawaii. It's a happy-feel-good anime so a definite pick me up for those having a bad day :) What are some animes you guys are currently watching? I'm also picking up on Naruto (after dropping it for 5 years). I'm not necessarily picky with my anime so feel free to leave any suggestions down in the comments below!
After today it'll only be a little less than two weeks until I get to see Anthony again. I have so much planned for us to do and I can't wait to share it with you all! And I know some people might think that when I post about my relationship it's "showing off," but I honestly don't feel that way. I'm just very happy with my relationship and I'm proud to call Anthony my boyfriend, so it shouldn't be a crime to post cutesy pictures of the two of us while we can, right? And today is our 2 year and 2 month anniversary! Yes, we are one of those couples that count every little anniversary lol.
Happy Friday everyone. Have a good weekend and be safe!
