My First Nail Salon Experience

December 28, 2015

Hi loves! As you may have read in one of my previous posts I recently got my nails done for the first time. Well recently as in about two weeks ago. But anywho, I thought I would share my first nail salon experience with you guys! The place I went to was really high rated and I initially was planning on going to a different salon but my friend Eshie sold me on this place. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of the place since my hands were kind of busy the whole time lol but it was very chic, modern and high-class looking.
I got acrylic nails done and the shape I went for was almond and the color I first had on was China Glaze's "What's She Dune?" and I liked the way in looked in the bottle but I don't think the color went all too well with my skin tone. Also I think it looked kind of odd on the almond shape.

I was so unsatisfied with the color that I went to Walgreens the next day and bought a new polish lol. The color I got was the Sally Hansen's Gel Miracle in #640 "Totem-ly Yours." I really liked the way the color turned out and it was more like the color I was originally wanting and it complements my skin tone very well. But just because I was unsatisfied with the color I don't want you guys to think that it was the salon's fault because it obviously wasn't. I just wasn't wise with the color selection. Also not to mention after everything was done I noticed that the paint job looked very streaky and I want to say it was the top coat because you could only see it in some lightings but I didn't feel like sitting down again and ask for them to repaint my nails, so I just did it myself.
The one big thing that I did not like about my experience at this salon is that while the nail tech was working on my nails she accidentally cut my cuticle a bit to where I was bleeding and she didn't even apologize for it. She just kept working as if she didn't notice, which I know she did because she paused as soon as it happened but continued to work anyway. I was also kind of disgusted because she used other tools on my nails, and even the cut finger, which is no where near sanitary for me and the next clients she'll be working on.

Overall my first nail salon visit was alright. I strongly believe that if the nail tech actually took her time and apologized for cutting my finger, I wouldn't have left as disappointed. I don't want to slander the name of the salon I went to, as you may I have noticed I left out the salon's name on purpose, because I would honestly go back to this salon again because they do do a good job. Also the prices are reasonable which is a big plus for me because I know some salons are ridiculously pricey. However I don't think I would go back to that specific location just to avoid getting that nail tech again and also just to avoid any awkward encounters with the rest of the staff because I'm sure word got around that I complained about my nail tech's job.

I really like having acrylic nails because they are super strong and it will take hell of a lot to break them, which is a plus for me because my nails break so easily! The only downside is that it sucks taking them off but either way I can see why people get their nails done all the time now. It's nice pampering yourself every once in a while!

What was your first nail salon experience like?
