If I were to ever leave Nashville one thing that I'll miss the most, aside from friends and family, is The Grilled Cheeserie. What is The Grilled Cheeserie you ask? It is basically just the most wonderful blessing to Nashville ever (aside from me of course, haha jk) Okay, but seriously, what The Grilled Cheeserie is, is a food truck that serves gourmet grilled cheeses that are seriously out of this world! You may have heard of them from the Food Network Channel when they were featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and "Eat St.," They are exclusively serving in Nashville and surrounding areas and they recently got a second food truck! Also they have a semi-permanent location at the Nashville's Farmers' Market, which is the location I went to today!
As you can see from the photo above there is always a crowd around patiently waiting to enjoy THE best grilled cheeses out there. And if you've been a reader on my blog for a while you may have heard me mention The Grilled Cheeserie a couple times in the past. I know my boyfriend always always ALWAYS asks to track down the truck whenever he's in town. Speaking of tracking down, because they are a food truck, although they do have a semi-permanent spot at the Farmers' Market, if you're ever having random cravings for one of their delicious grilled cheeses you can just text the word "Cheese" to 88000 and get a text on where they'll be serving that day! Or you can check their website at thegrilledcheeserietruck.com to see where they'll be for the whole week.
Today I was on a mission to try their "Melt of the Moment" which was the "Pizza Melt." They are only going to serve this for the month of September, and seeing as how September ends in 3 days, I couldn't let the chance pass me by and go on without trying it.
According to The Grilled Cheeserie website the Pizza Melt contains a pizza cheese blend of fontina, provolone and local cheedar, Porter Road Butcher pepperoni, organic San Morzano marinara, basil gremolata served on an Italian Herb bread. I got my pizza melt with a side of their tater tots, which they also paired with their own special "tot sauce." The Pizza Melt was basically like eating a pizza in sandwich form. This sandwich was basically the offspring if Five Points Pizza and The Grilled Cheeserie had baby.
And here is a derpy picture of me preparing myself to indulge in my pizza melt. Overall it was not disappointing (of course) but comparing it to my usual and also all-time favorite, the Pimento Mac & Cheese, I would definitely still choose the Pimento over the Pizza Melt. However if I wanted to switch things up I would definitely order the Pizza Melt again, so it is a bit saddening that it's only available for the month of September. But who knows, maybe it'll make a comeback in future months to come!
Also another good thing about The Grilled Cheeserie is that THEY CATER.
Just go their website and click on the "Cater" link and request the food truck today!
If you're new to Nashville, or just passing by for a couple days, I would shake my head so hard at you if you did not try one of their grilled cheeses. And if you don't know what to try, just try all of them because I'm sure you won't regret it! It will be worth the food coma that you'll have later on.

Hiddens Gems of Nashville // The Grilled Cheeserie

It's September and around this time just about everyone should be back in school. In my case however, I decided to take a semester off (hence the post title) and not because I had some epiphany that school isn't my thing and all, but because sometimes being a broke college student means being too broke to afford to go to college. Taking out a loan? Out of the question. Financial Aid? Didn't necessarily cover as much as I hoped. Overall, I just know that although I may not be going to school this semester that I am going to be making the most of this time off and really work on myself as a person. Also if you're also a student who unfortunately had to take a semester (or two) off maybe you can relate to this post and maybe it'll help you out or you can help me out?
First things first about taking some time off for school is DON'T FEEL LIKE YOU'RE A FAILURE. Just because you're taking time off of school doesn't make you a failure and it especially doesn't make you any lesser of a student or person. Some people just aren't meant for school and sometimes taking time off to find out what you are meant for is significantly more rewarding. Also move at your own pace, just because the friends you graduated with in high school are graduating college or further along in their studies than you are that doesn't mean they're any better than you or that you're any lower than them. It is a bit (more like a lot, at first) discouraging and can really put a damper on your self-esteem feeling as if you're being left behind your other colleagues, but finding out what's best for you and actually putting all your time, passion and effort into something you feel is worth it is just as gratifying as graduating "on time."
Now some people might claim this whole post as a false look at reality or a sad bunch of excuses for being unable to accept the fact that college just wasn't my thing or didn't work out, but honestly the only person that will know what's best for you is yourself and I personally feel it's better to try out new things while you're still young and able rather than waste your time doing something you're only half-heartedly putting effort in only to find out too late that you've missed out on life.
Some of the things that I've been doing to make use of my time off of school is learning sign language. Now some people might call me a "Weeb" (Weeaboo) for the reason for why I suddenly wanted to learn sign language, but I was watching this anime called "Gangsta" and the main character is deaf and so seeing how he would communicate to other people through sign language really interested me. So I downloaded an app on my phone just to pick up some basics. I'm also planning on buying some books to teach me as well. I haven't looked into classes yet, but for now I'm probably just going to stick to self-teaching before getting into more advanced learning.
Another thing I've been doing more is reading, but instead of textbooks I'm reading books that actually interest me. Some books I bought recently are #Girl Boss by the CEO of Nasty Gal Sophia Amoruso, Eat Pretty by Jolene Hart and Lolita by Vladamir Nabokav. I've already finished #Girl Boss and it was a very easy read and also very motivational. It made me start to think differently about how I do things and really brought out the ambitiousness in me to do better and more.  I just recently started Lolita and I was drawn to this book because of it's controversial topic. It's a bit of a challenge to read because there's on and off French speaking so it kind of throws me off a bit and hinders my understanding of what's going on. Also some of the vocabulary is by far more advanced than mine so I find myself looking of words almost every other chapter, but once you get past all that the story is a real page turner. I don't want to get too into the story because I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but if you're really into books that are "different' and not your typical happy-ending then I would definitely suggest picking up a copy of this book.
Aside from picking up different hobbies, one m a j o r activity that I've been doing a lot more lately is of course, working. I am putting in my 38-40 hours a week at my job and saving up like crazy towards school. I feel that if you do find yourself having to take off time from school, but still wanting to go back, then working and saving up is crucial.
However, speaking of saving up that leads me into my next topic which is looking up grants and scholarships and one really cool app that my best friend, Eshie, told me about it this app called "Scholly." And what Scholly is is an app that makes finding scholarships and grants that you qualify for much more easier and quicker, right in the palm of your hand.

How this app works is that it gives you an option to either look up scholarships or essays that you can fill out in order to earn financial rewards towards your schooling. For me personally I only use this for scholarship look ups. When you first open the app you're prompt to fill out information pertaining to your major, GPA, and so on.

Unfortunately I believe this app is mainly geared toward students in the states, because as you can see pictured above, the only option for location whereabouts only has "States" as the option. (Sorry to any of my readers outside of the states!)

Looking through the list of majors listed, this app had just about every major offered by most colleges. They didn't specially have Nutrition listed but they did have Food Sciences, so if you don't happen to find your exact and specific major I would just select something as close to it as possible. I also thought it was pretty neat that when you click on the miscellaneous option they have characteristics and hobbies listed like if you are a vegetarian! So yes, for all your vegetarians and possibly even vegan students out there, there are scholarships and grants out there for you guys!

After filling out the required information the app will bring you to a list full of scholarships and grants that you are matched with. It's such a great app because it also gives you the deadlines, scholarship descriptions,  and also the direct link to the website where you can apply.
Also if you find yourself not having time at the moment to apply the app gives you the option to save the scholarship so that way you can go back to it at your convenience without having to worry about having to look for it again!

Taking off time from school can be really discouraging at first, especially if you have no idea what to do with your time off from school. But what I advise is to definitely take advantage of this time to really work on yourself and finding out what you're good at! Sometimes there are instances where life comes first and school comes second. School isn't for everyone and sometimes your time for college isn't always right after high school. Be smart with your time off and make sure you're being as productive as possible!
Good luck and best wishes to you all! :)

Thinking Out Loud // (Not) Back To School

Hello Gems! If you read my posts on shows I'm currently watching then you'd know that I'm back in the anime scene. So today I'd felt that it'd be interesting to talk about some anime! And as you can probably tell from the title of this post I'm going to mainly talk about my all time favorite animes. Just a little disclaimer out there that I'm not really what you call and "avid" anime watcher, I do enjoy a good anime from time to time but I don't necessarily devote all my time to anime, the reason I say that is because I know there may be some people out there that are going to say that some of the animes I'm going to be talking about are all "mainstream" anime or that I'm not a "real" anime fan because of the animes I watch. But let me just say that I believe mainstream animes are mainstream because they're popular! And the more popular the anime the more likely I'd want to watch it, wouldn't you? Also these ARE animes that I have personally enjoyed watching and they are based off my liking. And I didn't mean to get into a whole little rant, but I just felt I had to get that out first. But now let's get onto the rest of the post!

S A M U R A I C H A M P L O O

My number one favorite anime ever. I have the complete season on DVD and I've probably watched this series over 5 times already. I was first introduced to this anime when it used to come on Adult Swim. The show is about these three characters, Mugen, Jin and Fuu and one fateful day the three crossed paths. After a series of unfortunate events Fuu managed to con Mugen and Jin into escorting her across Japan in search of a samurai who smells of sunflowers. Their journey across Japan gets them nearly killed in each and every way but the show is especially unique because it mixes hip hop  (a lot of Nujabes' tracks are included) and samurai culture together.

I remember just falling in love with Mugen's character. He was everything I ever wanted and wished to be, a total badass that will pick a fight with anyone that pisses him off and always ends up winning. I also love the American voice actor they picked for him (Steve Blum) because he was also the voice actor for Spike from Cowboy Bebop.

The show is both funny and entertaining so I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's never watched anime before or to anyone who just needs something that's unique in it's own way. This show will NOT disappoint you at all, and if it does than I don't know what to say other than either anime isn't your thing or you just have bad taste in anime. (Sorry not sorry, I tried my best)
And to buy the complete series follow this link

S A I L O R M O O N

The original magical girl anime. I have been a fan of this series ever since I was 5 years old and I am still in love with it to this day. It's been remade as Sailor Moon Crystal and it's based more off the manga, and although I am a big fan of the manga, I am just not a big fan of the way it was executed in the newer anime. But I will always and still love the original series, I loved Serena's character and just all the characters in general because I felt they just had more personality to them.
If you're not familiar with Sailor Moon, or didn't grow up with it like I did, it's basically an anime classic. A group of girls who can magically transform into these sailor-suited super heroes that fight alien villains in order to save the planet Earth.
You can watch this series on Hulu as well

F L C L (F O O L Y C O O L Y)

Although this anime is only 6 episodes long it's supernatural-ness and overall weird storyline is fairly entertaining and the different art styles throughout the show is what kept me interested. This show is the epitome of "different" (well, nothing compared to Paranoia Agent) but different in a good way. The storyline still makes sense throughout the episodes regardless of all the craziness going on.
The show is about this 12 year old boy named Naota who lives in a town where "nothing ever happens" but that all changes when Haruko runs him over one day with her Vespa bike. From that moment on a lot of strange things happen to Naota like a robot growing out of his forehead.

N A N A
The show is about these two girls who happen to both be named Nana, there is the ditsy and girly one, Nana K., and then the rocker and lead singer in the band, Nana O. The two met on the train and somehow ended up living together. The show focuses on how these two completely opposite girls end up being the biggest inspirations to one another while trying to get through all the obstacles life throws at them, from unwanted pregnancies, to band drama.  This isn't your typical Shoujo kind of anime, but it is a really good show if you're looking for an anime with a unique and original storyline.
This anime is particularly special to me because the two main characters remind me of myself and my best friend Eshie. I first started this anime during a time when Eshie and I weren't really on good terms and watching this anime made me realize that you need to learn how to be your own person but even when you know how to be alone there will always be that one true friend out there for you. Although the character that reminded me more of myself (Nana K) was a bit more naiive than I am, you really become attached to the two characters. I also LOVE Vivienne Westwood and I love that this anime includes a lot of her pieces throughout the show.

Honorable Mention:
H I M O U T O! U M A R U - C H A N

I started watching this series as soon as it premiered on Cruchyroll. I kept seeing screencaps of it on tumblr so I decided to give it a go and I immediately fell in love with it. It's a super cute series and always cheers me up when I'm having a bad day. It's just a fun show to watch and although it doesn't necessarily have a "strict" storyline, it's mainly about a girl named Umaru who is the ideal girl outside of home. Umaru is cute, funny, smart, nice, and excels in everything she does! But at home she turns into this little chibi character that likes to play videos games, read manga, and laze around while eating potato chips and drinking cola.

I recommend this show to those who want to watch something that's not too serious and will give you a good laugh or two. Also if you're a fan of the manga Yotsuba&! then this might be your cup of tea as well.
Anime has always been a part of my life and I believe it is  always going to be and overtime these were just some of the animes that really stuck out to me and that I can just watch over and over again.
What are some of your guy's favorite animes? I'd love to know in the comments down below!
And for all you Hulu subscribers out there fortunately for you guys you guys can watch all these shows on Hulu!  But I'm sure you can watch these series on Crunchyroll as well!

This post was not sponsored by Hulu or any Hulu affiliates.

And for all you Hulu subscribers out there fortunately for you guys you guys can watch all these shows on Hulu!  But I'm sure you can watch these series on Crunchyroll as well!

Hello everyone! I hope you guys are having a wonderful Monday, and if not well you're just in luck because today I have for you guys a playlist of songs I just could not stop listening to all month long. A lot of these songs put me in a good mood or just help me relax, so hopefully they'll do the same for you! I admit they're kind of all over the place and not necessarily consistent, there's a big mix of genres and artists in this month's playlist but hopefully that doesn't throw you guys off too too much.
But without further ado, sit back and listen and enjoy!

Play This Playlist // September Songs of The Month

Hi, Gems! Today I am going to be comparing two well-known cleansing oils, the Tatcha Pure Step One Camellia Cleansing Oil and the Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil. I recently got the travel sized Josie Maran kit, and the main reason why I went for the travel size kit is because I didn't want to fully commit to the products without trying the products out first. Also way before I purchased the Tatcha Cleansing Oil I was originally looking to buy the Josie Maran Cleansing Oil because I've been hearing a lot of people rave about how well it works. However the Sephora I went to was sold out of the Josie Maran Cleansing Oil so the associate helping me recommended that I get the Tatcha one instead. She seriously sold me on it and it has been my holy grail makeup removing cleanser ever since. You can read all about me dying over this product in my February Favorites post.
But for today's post I thought it'd be interesting to see how the two cleansing oils compared to one another.
Price: $48 USD
Fluid Ounces: 5.1 oz.
The reason I claim this as one of my holy grail beauty items is because the formula is super thin and easy to massage into the skin, yet still does a very effective job of getting rid of a full face of makeup in one go. The smell is very subtle to almost no scent at all, so if you're not really into products with much perfumes in it then this is highly recommended. It is a bit on the pricier side, retailing at $48 at Sephora but I say it's worth every single penny because it removes all of your makeup quick and easy in one simple step without stripping your skin of moisture. I have pretty dry skin so products that dry out my skin even more is a big problem for me. This product does claim to include vitamins A, B and E along with oleic and linoleic acids to help moisturize the skin and after using this for a couple months I did notice my skin feeling a lot softer and looking a bit less "dry-patchy" after using this but it wasn't necessarily a miracle worker for my overly dehydrated skin.

Price (Full Sized) : $32 USD
Fluid Ounces: 6 oz.
What I like about this cleansing oil is that it contains argan oil which is known for it's moisturizing properties, and for myself, having dry skin this was an added bonus. The main con to this product is that it really is a hit and miss some nights. I remember the first time I ever tried this the formula was just so thick that I basically felt like I was putting honey on my face instead of an oil. I had the most difficult time working this into my skin and I felt like my skin was just being tugged and pulled at the whole time. However the second and third time I tried this I didn't have that problem, the formula was super sleek and smooth and removed all my makeup completely fuss-free!
After about two weeks of using this I was starting to feel guilty because I was starting to think that I might actually like this cleansing oil better than the Tatcha one. It might be placebo but although the formula is a bad thicker than the Tatcha, I felt my skin looked a lot cleaner after using this than when I would use the Tatcha one. But I've concluded that because the oil does contain Argan oil that the reason why my skin probably looked a lot better was because it was also being more moisturized as I removed my makeup. Like I said earlier though, this product was a hit and miss some nights, although I have been using this for almost two months now there was that occasional night where the oil just clogged up and became "honey-like" again as it did when I first used the product.

Ultimately the Tatcha cleansing oil is still my number one go-to makeup removing product. The formula isn't thick and I don't feel as if I'm tugging at my skin when I'm working the product into my skin. Although a bit more pricey for less product, I feel it's still worth it overall. However if the Tatcha cleansing oil were to ever be discontinued for whatever reason *knock on wood* then I would definitely turn to the Josie Maran as my first choice of an alternative.

Hello and welcome back! Today I am very excited to introduce to you guys a anime and gaming clothing company based out of Orange County, California called The Guild Locker by Creators Guild! I entered one of their contests on their Instagram account and luck was on my side and I won one of their super cute and adorable Limited Edition Kawaii Jerseys
The material of the jersey is made of 100% Polyester and include a cherry blossom design on both the sleeves and inside the lettering. It's also machine washer friendly and can be dried regularly without you having to worry about it shrinking or any of the lettering being ruined.
It is suuuper duper comfortable to wear when you're just lounging around the house or even when making a quick trip to the store!
Check out one of the two creator's of Creator's Guild looking super adorable in their Kawaii Jersey <33

I absolutely love this jersey and I literally  can't stop wearing it. (No, seriously I'm even wearing it right now as I write this post lol)
If this post hasn't convinced you to purchase one of these cute jerseys then I have no idea what else to say other than you're unfortunately missing out on some of the coolest gaming/anime/comic-related apparel out there. However if you ARE interested in purchasing this specific jersey follow this  link!
