Mini Drugstore Haul | Target | July 2015

July 10, 2015

Happy Friday my fellow Gems! I am back with a little mini drugstore haul for you guys and I'll honestly say it's been quite some time since I've bought makeup from the drugstore. I forgot how cheap everything was compare to higher end products and the whole time I was shopping I was just thinking to myself about how I wish all makeup were this cheap but still super good quality. NOT saying that drugstore brands aren't good quality or anything! But anyway enough blabbering and let's get onto the post!

The main thing I was shopping for were makeup brushes. My makeup brush collection is very minimal at the moment so I felt it was about time I'd buy myself some proper makeup tools. (Also I was getting tired of using my fingers for applying foundation lol)

The first thing I'm going to talk about is the E.L.F contour brush ($3) and this is THE best brush for contouring the sides of your nose. Before this I was using a really fluffy brush that gave me no precision whatsoever, but that's what I get for trying to make the best with what I had. It's a super soft brush and for $3 I feel is a really good deal. The brush is neither too fluffy or too dense, and like I said perfect for contouring the sides of your nose which is exactly what I was looking for and I believe I found my perfect match :)

The next brush I got was Sonia Kashuk's Spooly brush ($2) and in my opinion I feel my eyebrows are a little on the fake-harsher side and I believe it is because I don't even spooly out my eyebrows. So I believe it was about time that I got a spooly brush and I'm still kind of on the fence about this brush. I only used it a couple times up until now and the thing with spoolys, for me, is that sometimes they're a little too harsh and end up just moving your eyebrow product around which is a big no-no for me. I probably just need a little more practice and use a lighter hand but so far I don't have any big complaints about this brush. A spooly is a spooly, right?

The last brush I got was just a random, I guess, "Target" brand complexion brush. I was looking for a new foundation brush and was torn between a stippling brush or just a fluffy brush. I chose this one because it wasn't too fluffy like a powder brush but also not too dense. It's done a pretty good job blending out my foundation, not necessarily giving off and airbrush look, but what would you expect out of a cheaper brush. I'm still really satisfied with this brush and for the price I feel it does a decent job. It's also a very good starter brush for those makeup newbies out there!

And the last and final product I got was the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation ($13). And the reason I went for this foundation is because I've been hearing a lot of YouTubers and beauty gurus rave about this and I was in need of a newer foundation because I got a bit tanner and my Urban Decay Naked one is just a little too light for me at the moment. So I didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a foundation that I would only wear for the short amount of time that my skin was tan, so I decided to go for this one and the shade I got is called "Fresh Beige." It's a little darker and orangier than what it looked like when I swatched it in the store so I might have to go and return it. But formula wise it is easy to blend out and definitely gives a matte finish. It's not too heavy and has pretty decent coverage. To me personally I feel it is one of the better foundations that I have tried from the drugstore because usually when I try foundations from the drugstore they look super cakey and aren't so easily blendable(?? if that's even a word) Also I wore it out on a very scorching hot and humid day and it lasted a lot longer than I thought! Despite how hot it was it wasn't melting off my face like other foundations I've tried in the past. Also I didn't get oily throughout the day either so so far I'm extremely impressed and will definitely be repurchasing this in the future. Now I can see why this foundation is getting praised so much because for the price it's a ridiculously good deal. So I would definitely recommend this to everyone because I believe it'll work for all skin types, it's lightweight, super cheap, and lasts you all day!

Even though I haven't shopped for drugstore products in a while I think I'm going to start making it a habit, because you can find some really good makeup products for a more affordable price!

What are some of your guy's favorite drugstore products and brands?
